Learn about the process with upfront information from each of the members of our team: Bariatric Surgeon, Bariatric Dietitian, Therapist, Insurance Specialists, Exercise Physiologist and more.  We provide a comprehensive team of healthcare professionals to help you obtain your weight loss goals.

Initial Consultation

Obtain your personalized Bariatric Journey Plan!
Meet with Dr. Patel, a board certified and fellowship trained bariatric surgeon for a one-on-one consultation.  Meet with our Bariatric Insurance Coordinator who will guide you through the insurance process.

Participate in the Bariatric Wellness Program

We are committed to providing you with the resources necessary to make this process as successful and rewarding as possible.  Our program offers the tools and knowledge needed to adjust to the physical and psychological changes that occur during this transition period.  The Bariatric Wellness Program is a multidisciplinary program designed to prepare you for your journey ahead.  It is an essential part of the process and is required prior to undergoing any bariatric procedure. 

This six hour program combines nutritional, emotional and physical lessons.  Our registered dieticians will provide nutritional teaching specific to bariatric surgery.  Our psychologist will provide you and your family with insights into possible emotional pitfalls that may lie ahead and provide tips on how to handle daily challenges after surgery.  In addition, our exercise physiologist will show you how to become physically active in a productive, healthy and safe manner.  You will also learn effective exercise routines and tips on how to stay excited and motivated without intimidation. 

Nutrition Classes & Exercise Physiologist

Adopt good eating habits, become physically active and stay motivated!
Meet with our bariatric dietitians and learn the phases of the bariatric diet, the importance of vitamins and new eating habits that will ensure success on your journey to the new you.  Meet with our exercise physiologist and learn how to become physically active in a safe and healthy manner.

Psychology Orientation

Your emotional health is key for the success of your journey!
Meet with our therapist for a required evaluation. 

Support Groups

Attend nutrition and emotional wellness support groups where you will meet others on their bariatric journeys and have your questions answered by others that have been in your shoes.

Bariatric Support Groups are an integral part of our Bariatric Surgery Program. We offer bi-weekly group sessions for both pre- and post-surgical patients. Come learn, support and share with others on their weight loss journey.

Insurance Required Diets & Operative Clearance

Many insurance company’s require medically (physician) supervised diets prior to approval for surgery.  Some require dietary counseling from a registered dietician.  We will assist you through this process.  Pre-operative clearances and consults will be performed prior to surgery.

Follow-up visits with Dr. Patel and her team at regular intervals: 2 weeks,
2 months, 6 months, and yearly after surgery.  Regular blood work to assess and adjust vitamin levels for life.  Trouble shoot any problems that might arise and support you in your journey ahead.
