Dr. Sheetal Patel, Medical Director of Bariatrics
Dr. Sheetal Patel is a board certified and fellowship trained bariatric surgeon. She completed a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida and received specialized training in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery for obesity and metabolic syndrome. She has been published in multiple medical journals including Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, Obesity Surgery, Bariatric Times and Contemporary Surgery. She has also presented numerous research studies about revisional bariatric procedures at the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Registered Dietitian / Exercise Physiologist
Liz Kiertscher, MS, RD, CSSD, LD, CPT, CNSC
Liz Kiertscher, MS, RD, LD, CPT heads the nutrition and exercise area of the Bariatric Surgery Institute. She has extensive experience as a licensed registered dietitian, exercise physiologist, and certified personal trainer. She has written numerous articles and develops and presents lectures on nutrition, wellness and exercise. Liz completed her graduate studies at Texas Woman's University in Exercise and Sports Nutrition. Her areas of professional interest include weight management, wellness, sports performance, cardiovascular health, and medical nutrition therapy.
Liz was recently awarded the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year award from the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This honor is awarded to dietitians who demonstrate concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population, demonstrate leadership, and actively participate in their local dietetic associations.

Dr. Patti Allard RN, BSN, LMFT, LPC
Dr. Patti Allard RN, LMFT, LPC is a registered nurse, licensed family therapist and licensed professional counselor. She completed a doctorate at Texas Woman’s University. She has been published in nursing journals including Nurse Leader and Critical Care Nursing Clinics of North America. She has presented nationally and has done research in the area of therapist support in chronic illnesses.
